Man about a Dog

Man about a Dog provides peer support based on the message that suicidal thoughts and attempts should not be hidden away or feared. All MaaD workers have survived a suicide attempt and we still experience suicidal thoughts. They can identify with you if you have attempted to end your life or are thinking about doing so.

Staying Safe

StayingSafe.net offers compassion, kindness and easyways to help keep people safer from thoughts of harm and suicide, seek support and discover hope of recovery through powerful videos from people with personal experience.
The website provides vital ‘Safety Plan’ guidance tools jointly finded by NHS England, with easy to print/ online templates and guidance video tutorials purposfully designed to help people through the process of writing their own Safety Plan to build hope, identify actions and strategies to resist suicidal thoughts and develop positive ways to cope with stress and emotional distress.

An independent adult mental health charity that offers friendly, accessible support and information to promote well-being in the community.

Targeted Prevention Alliance

The Stockport Targeted Prevention service provides early help and preventative support for a wide range of vulnerable people and households in the borough and is commissioned by Stockport Council as part of their Preventative Strategy.

The service is delivered through an alliance of organisations working in partnership with Stockport Council. The organisations are: Age UK Stockport, FLAG, Nacro, Relate GMS, Stockport Homes and Threshold.

Stockport Signpost for Carers

Signpost Stockport for Carers is an independent charity, established in 1986, which provides free and confidential information to unpaid carers of all ages and ethnicity, and professionals who work with carers, in the Stockport area. A carer is defined as somebody who looks after a relative, partner or friend who is ill, disabled or confused.

Hypnotherapy Directory is a UK based online directory listing hypnotherapists who are registered with a professional body or those who have sent in copies of their qualifications and insurance cover. The directory is run by a team dedicated to promoting the benefits of hypnotherapy. Its aim is to connect visitors with the hypnotherapy professional most suited to their needs.

DrugScope

The charity DrugScope went into liquidation in March 2015. Until then it was was the national ‘voice’ for the drug and alcohol sector and the UK’s leading independent centre of expertise on drugs and drug use. A ‘legacy’ website has been created to preserve the reports and consultation documents published during its lifetime. The aim is to try and keep the drug information sections up to date.
