SPARC (Stockport Progress and Recovery Centre) is a local charity which provides support to adults in the Stockport area who experience mental health problems.
We offer a range of leisure, therapeutic, educational and social activities and facilities, which we have developed in consultation with our members, and our aim is to promote integration and mental and social wellbeing.
To find out more about SPARC and what we do, please visit our website: http://sparc4me.org.uk/
We are looking for someone who has experience of cooking and catering and who is passionate about providing support to people who are experiencing, or recovering from, mental health problems.
This is an exciting new project which involves not only using your cooking skills but also supporting our service users with building employment and life skills and confidence, setting them up well to move into a job out in the community.
Our ideal candidate will be a great communicator and organiser and will find it easy to relate to, and get on with, others. It would be great if you had a Level 3 Health and Social Care qualification (or equivalent), although it is not essential.
You will set up and develop a community café based at the SPARC centre in Stockport. You will design and deliver a menu of healthy meals for sale (currently via a takeaway service) and build a team of volunteers to support the service.
