This year we have been fortunate enough to receive funding from The National Lottery to enable us to set up SPARC4Wellbeing project. This will mean that we are able to continue with our fantastic SPARC4Counselling Service; reinvigorate our SPARC4Youth project for young people aged between 18-30 and begin the SPARC4Healing project which will link physical and mental health in the creation of one to one and small group sessions. On Wednesday last week a group of wonderful volunteers from AstraZenica spent the day at the centre to help in anyway they could. We put them to the test as we needed some work doing on our garden shelter and benches; they really stepped up to the challenge. Some more amazing news about our Football Team SPARC United. We are really pleased to announce our football team, currently on a winning streak have won “The Good Mood” 5 a side tournament in Huddersfield, Yorkshire on Wednesday 14th March, we played four games against other mental health organisations and won all four.

We are chuffed to bits to announce our football team SPARC UNITED are through to the semi-finals of the FA Peoples Cup – Adult Male Premiership Disability League. The game will be held at Powerleague Manchester Central on the 25th March at 2pm.

SPARC United As part of World Mental Health day Nick (team member of SPARC United) brought together a few SPARC United players and entered the Burton Albion football tournament held in Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire. This was a whole day event having to be at the train station at 8.00am with tickets costing £54.00. They played 6 games in total: 4 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss, and they returned champions ‘again’.

For this years summer fair we are setting up a stall, the proceeds of which will go directly to SPARC. For this stall we are asking for donations of bric-à-brac, books and toys. If you have any of these items to donate please drop them off at the centre as soon as you can so we know what we’ve got for sale on the day. Please do not donate clothes.
